'This album kind of took on a life of its own. We started writing straight after Dances With Demons was released with no clear idea of where it was going. But we write best when we have something to write about, so we created Mike and wrote a story around his disillusionment with life and his descent into the very world that he had fought against for his entire career. His infatuation with the dancer Exotique is the tipping point for him. He falls in love with her and tries and fails to save her from herself. A modern tragedy, I suppose' - Ivan Berryman
